If you’re reading this, that means you’re interested in submitting an entry for our contest. That’s awesome! We’re going to assume that also means you want us to actually see your entry, and that’s only going to happen if you follow our submission guidelines.
Guideline 1 – Your entries should be no more than 1,000 words! Also, you may only submit online through our website (there is a $5 fee).
Guideline 2 – All entries must be written from a Christian worldview. That doesn’t mean you can’t ask the big questions or challenge the status quo of religion (we’d prefer you did), but the point behind what you write needs to stem from a love of Christ and a desire to share His story with the world. That being said, don’t be afraid to branch out. Write what’s on your heart.
Guideline 3 – We accept any genre. When we say any, we mean any. As long as it’s from a Christian worldview (see Guideline 2), we’ll look at it. We don’t particularly want anything with graphic adult content, but if you’ve got a story where you have to include profanity or even a little vulgarity to make a point, don’t be afraid to include it. But it needs to have a reason, and we’d like to be able to understand that reason by the end of it.
Guideline 4 – We will only accept Word Documents (.doc or .docx). Please make sure you double space your story, and don’t include any identification on any of the pages. Don’t put your name or your email address on any of them. We’d like to keep the judging as anonymous as possible. If there is a name on any of the pages, your entry will be disqualified.
Guideline 5 – This might be obvious, but we’re going to say it anyway. Check your spelling. And don’t just use spell check, especially if you’re writing science fiction or fantasy. Also check your grammar. And avoid grammar check like the plague. Your word processor doesn’t know the difference between a passive and active sentence most of the time.
Guideline 6 – You can expect to hear from us by November 1, 2014. Follow us on Facebook for updates. We’ll announce the winners and then let you know when the anthology will be available for purchase.
Any questions? Shoot us a note.
If not, SUBMIT YOUR STORY!
